Fruitty

Fruit is an identifier of the life source...ie if you see an apple - you know you are looking at an apple tree...peaches grow on a peach tree...figs on a fig tree...etc.

From a Biblical perspective, we are told there are fruit of the Spirit in our life.  ie the Spirit of God within us should have proof on the outside.

Galatians 5 lists the fruit the Spirit should yield.  Here's what it says:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

The Message paraphrases it like this:

But what happens when we live God's way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.

Thing is - it doesn't say "bear fruit only when its easy...or going our way...or when you feel like it".  It just says - that if our source is God's Spirit - then the proof will be in the fruit, or those things that come to life on both the good & bad days.

So...

Fruit on a perfect day is one thing...fruit on an imperfect day is quite another.

On the imperfect days, what source of life do we draw from?  Flesh or Spirit?

You will always know by the fruit that comes to life in those moments.  If it doesn't look like God's Spirit, we are drawing from the wrong source.

Just a thought...

Peace

Thanks PB, I love it. I really want to have the Spiritual fruit and not some fruit I created. You are right it is not always easy but if we just keep focused and make the choice to follow Him.. it seems to be easier. Live really is all about choices...
