Thankful...

So...

Yesterday, early in the morning, we made the trek to hang out with Shawn's parents & grandmother for the day...leaving our house to the forces of Irene.  Last night about 9:00 we made the trek back to our house to see what our house had faced.

The trek back was not eventful - there were a number of places where water was standing on the road...some water was pretty deep...one place was actually impassable - we backed up & went another way.  But that was about it.  A very different ride from Isabel - when trees lined all of the roads - inclusive of the bypass & we had to use 4 wheel drive the entire ride as we left the road many times to get around the debris field.

Though we all braced for Irene to be much more than she was - we all have to be quite relieved at what we dealt with.

Our anxiety was not totally relieved until we made our way into our home & checked the back yard.  For we knew there is a very real possibility that our neighbor's tree could fall into our house.

Anyway - after saying a brief prayer riding down our road...we said a heartfelt "thank you Jesus" when we surveyed the lack of damage.  No tree...not even a limb...nadda...nothing...lights on & cable tv ready to feed us some channel 13 news.

So, thanks again for all the prayers...all is well & we are VERY VERY grateful for the lack of excitement Irene brought to us all...

Today, take a moment to express thanks to God as well...AND take a moment to pray for those that haven't woke up to the same reality.  For we know some people suffered life loss as well as great damage to their homes or businesses...they need our prayers.  If you know anyone living in a tough spot - they might need us to go beyond "praying for them" & help 'em out.

peace
